License and Credential Renewal

Wisconsin requires all social work credentials to be renewed at the end of February on odd-numbered years. The process can be done online.

Before you can renew, you need to do 30 hours of continuing education during the two-year renewal period. Four of those hours must cover ethics and professional boundaries.

The purpose of the renewal is to keep social workers up-to-date with the latest educational standards allowing them to perform their duties to the best of their abilities.
