Licensing Renewal and Continuing Education
Licenses are up for renewal every two years. A reminder is sent in the mail 30 days before the renewal date. If your license is not renewed on time, you are subject to pay late renewal fees.
Social workers are randomly selected for a continuing education (CE) audit every month. If you are chosen, you must provide proof that you are keeping in line with the required CE for your licensure. Licensed social workers must complete no less than 30 hours of CE training during each renewal period. Six hours must be spent on professional ethics courses and social work values, and three hours should be spent on theory, skills, strategies, or evaluation.
