To help teen parents develop self-esteem through education or technical training in order to qualify for better jobs.
Applicants must be pregnant or parenting teens living in the State of Tennessee; must be enrolled or planning to enroll in post-secondary education at an accredited college, university, junior college, technical school, or job training program as a way to increase their job skills and become more employable.
Recipients are selected based on academic records, test scores, extracurricular activities, work experience, community involvement, recommendations about leadership and character, merit, financial need.
