To provide college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service.
Applicants must be US Citizens, US National residents of American Samoa, or expecting their citizenship by the date of the award; must currently enrolled at a US-based accredited institution; must planning to attend graduate school in pursuit of a career in public service; must pursuing any major likely to lead to a public service career; can be any age; can be interested in any graduate degree other than the MBA; must be a full-time junior-level student at a four-year institution pursuing a bachelor’s degree during the 2022-2023 academic year; must be the upper quarter of their class.
Finalists are selected on the basis of: extent and quality of community service and government involvement; leadership record; academic performance, writing and analytical skills; and suitability of the nominee’s proposed program of study for a career in public service.
