Purpose for the scholarship
To assist graduates of high schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg (public or private schools) to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Requirements to qualify?
Applicant must be an incoming freshman at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill who is a graduate of a high school in Charlotte-Mecklenburg (Public or Private); must be a competitive runner who has been a member of his/her high school track or cross country team(s); must have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the end of the first semester of senior year.

Selection criteria among applicants
Preference will be given to students who have participated in extracurricular activities and who have been involved in community service. Selections are made by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and are based on information contained in the application for Undergraduate Admissions.
