Purpose for the scholarship To improve economic mobility for LGBTQIA+ and Straight Ally college students from the Charlotte metro area.
Requirements to qualify? Applicant must be LGBTQ or a Straight Ally student who has demonstrated service to the LGBTQ community or a desire to serve the LGBTQ community; must have taken the ACT or SAT; must have a significant unmet financial need; must be enrolled or intending to enroll in a two- or four-year college in North or South Carolina; must be from one of the following Charlotte metro counties: Mecklenburg, York, Union, Gaston, Cabarrus, Iredell, Rowan, Cleveland, Lancaster, Lincoln, Stanly, Chester, Catawba, Chesterfield, Alexander, or Anson.
Selection criteria among applicants Applicants will be selected based on academic performance and essay/art work quality. Preference will be given to full-time students and to part-time students in their junior or senior year; other part-time students who demonstrate passion, willingness, and ability to complete their degrees will be considered.
