Purpose for the scholarship To provide financial assistance to further educational objectives of women either employed or planning careers in defense or national security areas.
Requirements to qualify? Applicant must be a woman currently enrolled or expected to be enrolled at an accredited university or college by the next academic term as an undergraduate or graduate student (undergraduates must have attained at least junior level status, with a minimum 60 credits); must demonstrate interest in pursuing a career related to national security or defense; must be a U.S. citizen; must have a minimum 3.25 GPA and demonstrate financial need.
Selection criteria among applicants Selection will be based on academic achievement, participation in defense and national security activities, field of study, work experience, statements of objectives, recommendations and financial need. Preference will be given to the following fields of study: security studies, military history, government relations, engineering, computer science, cyber security, physics, mathematics, business (as it relates to national security or defense), law (as it relates to national security or defense), international relations, political science, policy and diplomacy, intelligence, and economics.
