Purpose for the scholarship To provide support for independent graduate-level studies in oceanography, marine biology, or maritime archaeology (including all science, engineering, social science and resource management of ocean and coastal areas), particularly by women and members of minority groups.
Requirements to qualify? Applicants must be U.S. citizen, permanent resident or a citizen of a U.S. territory; pursue a masters or doctoral level degree in oceanography, marine biology, or maritime archaeology; cumulative and term grade point average of 3.30 or higher; full-time student status for the duration of the scholarship award.
Selection criteria among applicants The evaluation criteria and weighting of the criteria are as follows: academic record and statement of career goals of the students (20 points); quality of project and applicability to program priorities (30 points); recommendations and or endorsements of students (10 points); additional relevant experience (15 points); financial need (25 points).
