Purpose for the scholarship To encourage and reward students majoring in the field of human nutrition, dietetics, foods, nutrition, or food systems management or admitted or enrolled in a dietetic internship who have demonstrated ability and potential in the field of dietetics and nutrition by aiding them financially.
Requirements to qualify? Applicants must be junior or senior students majoring in the field of human nutrition dietetics, food, nutrition, or food systems management or admitted or enrolled in a dietetic internship; must have active, associate, or student membership in the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; must have cumulative grade point average of 2.5, and 3.0 or above in major sources of study; must be legal resident of one of the following counties: Calhoun, DeKalb, Cherokee, Cleburne, Etowah, Marshall, St. Clair or Talladega, or volunteered in a healthcare facility in one of the stated counties.
Selection criteria among applicants Selection is based on the scholarship; potential in the field of dietetics and nutrition ascertained by, for example, leadership in activities within and outside the school, professional interest, honors, activities, and work or volunteer experience; financial need; letters of recommendation; and letter of application.
