Purpose for the scholarship To provide financial assistance for tuition and other related educational expenses to the University of Alaska Anchorage students with Sociology or a related social science major.
Requirements to qualify? Applicants must be in good academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 for undergraduate and 3.0 for graduate and formally admitted into an undergraduate Social Sciences major or an Interdisciplinary Masters degree-seeking program that includes sociology as one of the disciplines; must have completed at least thirty (30) credits; must also have completed at least six (6) credits prior to the semester of the award at the University of Alaska Anchorage, and planning to enroll full time (twelve (12) credits for undergraduate and nine (9) credits for graduate); lastly, they must demonstrate involvement in a project or area of study which reflects a commitment to social justice, peace, equality, and/or empowerment of minorities.
