Purpose for the scholarship
To further the advancement of the geospatial tradecraft, USGIF is dedicated to assist promising students studying GEOINT, geospatial sciences, and related fields. The annual USGIF Scholarship Program recognizes the achievements of graduating high school seniors, undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students.

Undergraduate student

Selection criteria among applicants
The Reinventing Geospatial Scholarship will award $10,000 to one undergraduate student who has an interest in both the engineering and geospatial disciplines. The scholarship is designed to support a student who demonstrates engineering and geospatial experience through degree (major/minor), internships/co-ops, electives, class projects, conference presentations, etc. Specific examples of experiences include but are not limited to:<br /> • Engineering: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Computational Modeling &#038; Data Analytics<br /> • Geospatial: Geography, GIS, Geomatics, Computational Modeling &#038; Data Analytics, Data Science, Remote Sensing, Photogrammetry<br /> In evaluating scholarship applications, USGIF will first look at the applicant’s overall qualifications as demonstrated through academic course work and extracurricular activities. Answers to the first four questions below receive more credit for demonstrated interests that relate to geospatial intelligence. Originality is important for essay evaluation.<br /> Each of the four questions is equally important. Each letter of reference is weighted the same as a question. The essay is weighted about the same as the total for the questions. That is, each question is worth roughly 10% (40% total), the essay is approximately 40%, and each letter of reference is about 10% (20% total). USGIF evaluates applicants on a peer-to-peer basis – undergraduate students will only be judged relative to other undergraduate students.
