Purpose for the scholarship
To raise awareness for substance abuse and mental health issues.

Requirements to qualify?
1. The Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are: (1) at least 18 years of age, and (2) minority students enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university in the United States, and (3) have a minimum 2.50 GPA.<br /> 2. Entries must be from individuals only; groups, organizations and multiple-party entries are not eligible. The Contest is governed by United States law and is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Selection criteria among applicants
1. *Essay must be submitted with the application, which should include<br /> the authors name, address, phone number, email address, college (including<br /> the date of graduation), and student ID number.*<br /> 2. *All entries must be typed, double-spaced, and saved as a Word Doc or<br /> PDF.*<br /> 3. *Do not add pictures or graphics*<br /> 4. *Essays that do not meet the word count requirement will be<br /> eliminated. (The essay title or added references / footnotes do not<br /> contribute to the total word count.)*<br /> 5. *A contestants teacher, counselor, or parent may check the essay for<br /> punctuation, grammar, and/or spelling, but the essay MUST BE the original<br /> work of the student making the submission.*<br /> 6. *Contestants will be judged based solely on their essay.*
