What's Here? - Table of Contents
The first licensing option for social workers in Wyoming is the Certified Social Worker or CSW certificate. Having this allows you to practice clinical social work with supervision. You need to have a BSW from an accredited program to be eligible.
A bachelor’s degree in social work is required for the CSW license. Here you can find all schools offering social work degree programs in Wyoming.
After graduating from your BSW program, you can submit your application to the licensing board. Along with that, you need to provide supporting documents, including:
If you are already working, you need to include the Supervision Agreement form in your application. It will identify your intended clinical supervisor. You can submit the form later if you are unsure who your supervisor will be.
You cannot provide clinical services until the licensing board has approved the agreement, even if the CSW certificate was issued.
The licensing board will determine your eligibility based on all the documents provided. If nothing is amiss, the board will give you the go signal to take the exam with the Association of Social Work Boards or ASWB.
The organization is responsible for creating and maintaining all exams related to social worker licensing in the entire country. The ASWB has several tests available, depending on the state requirements according to the level of license applied for.
With a CSW certificate in Wyoming, you can take a Bachelor’s or Master’s level exam. Both contain 170 multiple-choice questions to gauge your knowledge of social work theories, methods, and practices.
Upon passing the exam, the licensing board will issue your CSW certificate, allowing you to practice clinical social work under the supervision of a qualified professional like a counselor, therapist, psychologist, or licensed clinical social worker.
